More Than Just Fabric — The Story Behind the Brand
People often assume that starting a fashion brand comes from a love for clothes. For me, it came from something much deeper. I was born and raised in Bangladesh, a country that stands at the heart of the global garment industry. Growing up around it, I didn’t just see clothing as something people wear—I saw the system behind it, the workers behind it, and the reality that most people don’t think about.
In 2013, the Rana Plaza collapse changed everything for me. Over 1,100 garment workers lost their lives, and thousands were injured. I was in Bangladesh at that time, and it didn’t feel like news—it felt real, immediate, and personal. That moment stayed with me and forced me to question the true cost of fashion. From then on, I knew I didn’t just want to be part of this industry. I wanted to contribute to changing it.
My journey into fashion and textiles took me to China, where I began developing my technical foundation. Studying at Chengdu Textile College gave me a deeper understanding of how garments are actually made—the precision, the craftsmanship, and the discipline behind every piece. I later continued my studies at Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, where my perspective expanded beyond just construction into design thinking, creativity, and purpose-driven development. These experiences helped me see fashion not just as an art, but as a system that can be improved. Now, in Australia, studying at Curtin University, I continue to refine that vision—combining technical knowledge with a broader, global understanding of the industry.
But my journey isn’t defined by education alone. In July 2024, during the Bangladeshi student protests, I used my voice to support and raise awareness. Being involved in that moment reminded me that influence is not just about visibility—it comes with responsibility. That same belief drives this brand. This brand is not just about design or selling products. It’s about the people behind the products—the garment workers and textile workers who are often overlooked and underpaid. From the very beginning, my intention has been to build towards a future where those workers are treated fairly and paid properly. This is not just a business for me. It’s a responsibility. A responsibility to the people who make the clothes we wear every day. With a background in textile engineering and fashion design, I focus on more than just appearance. I care about how products are made, how they perform, how long they last, and what impact they have. This brand is built on that foundation—fairness, purpose, and intention. I know that building something meaningful takes time. There are challenges, and progress isn’t always fast or visible. But I believe in doing things the right way, even if it takes longer. Because in the end, this journey is about more than fashion. It’s about creating something better for the people who make it.
